Using the Dive Guide
Maldives Dive Guide focuses on dive site level information from across the Maldives. The main content of the site is a growing collection of individual dive site pages, with locations shown on a map to provide geographic context.
Dive sites are organised by atoll and region, reflecting how diving is planned in the Maldives. Each dive site page includes practical information such as typical dive profiles, conditions, skill considerations, marine life highlights, and seasonality notes.
Where available, dive centres that operate in the area are listed for reference. These listings are informational only and do not represent rankings, recommendations, or a complete list of operators.
The guide is an ongoing project and is being actively expanded to include more dive sites and supporting information over time. Additional resources on weather patterns, dive planning, and travelling in the Maldives are also included.
Important notes and disclaimer!
Map locations shown on this site are approximate and must not be used for navigation. All information is provided for planning and reference purposes only, and diving conditions can change rapidly.
Divers are responsible for their own safety and should dive only within the limits of their certification, skill, and experience. Seek guidance from experienced local dive professionals where appropriate, and always dive properly equipped, including carrying and knowing how to use essential safety equipment such as a Deployed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB).
Explore dive sites by atoll
The Maldives consists of 21 natural coral atolls and 4 oceanic islands. These different island types influence reef structure, exposure, and surrounding marine habitats.
Diving conditions and marine life vary between atolls and also within different areas of the same atoll, depending on reef orientation, exposure, and currents. For clarity, the guide groups atolls into zones, with further regional sections within each atoll.
Use the map to explore the atolls, and the section next to the map to view zones and atolls. Clicking on an atoll opens detailed information, including regional context and associated dive sites.
